By the time Noah Kuttler had used his resources to bend the young archer to his will, Roy Harper had been tracking the assassin Komodo, an archer that had been terrorising Hub City, for months. And now with Kuttler's influence gone, the villain seemingly having gone off the radar, the hero known as Arsenal had once again resumed his search, and after much effort the trail eventually lead back to Star City, Roy's home.

Two years ago, Roy had revealed himself to be the green-clad archer; The Arrow, handing himself in the cops to atone for his sins and rescue his mentor and friend Oliver Queen from public and federal suspicion. And while the world now knew Roy Harper to be a vigilante, they had no suspicion as to who the man beneath the red hood was. As much as it pained Roy that he could not return home, he could operate there safely as Arsenal, as long as he never took off the hood.

A lot had changed in Roy's absence; Laurel was in a coma, Oliver was the mayor, and Thea - the love of his life - had taken up her own red hood as his replacement; the archer Speedy. But none of that mattered with Komodo loose on the streets of Star City. Roy had defeated the assassin once; he was sure he could do it again.

Running across the rooftops, Roy clung to his red recurve bow tightly; jumping, flipping and maneuvering through the urban playground. Moments later, a building appeared on the horizon and instantly Roy knew what Komodo's play was. Roy watched wide-eyed as he was certain that the black archer was preparing for an assassination an none other than the mayor's office. His target: Mayor Queen.

Oliver sat at his desk and rubbed his eyes wearily. The dual life of being the Mayor, as well as the Green Arrow, was taking it's toll on him. He didn't have a lot of opportunity to sleep anymore. It seemed like every time he turned around there was some new criminal or whack job popping up in the city. One could almost thing Star City was a breeding ground for it. A vacation would be nice, he mused as he shuffled through the paperwork. Hell, even Lian Yu was better than this.

But no, he couldn't. At least Star City's criminals were more of the mundane variety. No giant shark men, people who could control the weather, no meta humans in Star City. Or at least, not very many of them. For whatever reason they seemed to focus on Central City, home to his friend Barry. So that was something at least.

He dropped the handful of papers he had been going over and looked at the clock. Not much longer and he'd knock off and go out on patrol for a couple hours. Maybe the night air would help to clear his mind. If nothing else it would be a welcome distraction from the stack of papers he had been dealing with most of the day.

Simon Lacroix stood firm in the Star City night. Atop a tall rooftop, Lacroix pulled back the string of his bow, having nocked the arrow he was certain would soon reside in the back of Oliver Queen, playboy-turned-dead man-turned-mayor. Ready in 3... 2...

CRASH. Out of nowhere, the archer Arsenal barreled into view on a grappling line, shattering the mayor's open window as he sailed in. Glass sprayed all around as Roy landed with a roll in the office of Mayor Queen. He immediately tackled Oliver to the ground, Lacroix's black arrow sailing directly over them. Roy quickly grabbed Oliver by his arms, taking a knee in the moments before Komodo would surely make his own entrance. "Call of your security. Evacuate the building." Roy said hurriedly, "It's Komodo, he's here to kill the mayor."

The crash at the window startled him to attention, then he found himself crashing to the floor. Thinking it was Prometheus, Oliver jabbed his elbow backwards, connecting with something soft, before he heard Roy's voice.

He pushed Roy off to one side and rolled to a crouch behind the desk as another black arrow sailed into the window, embedding itself deeply in the phone. He kept a spare bow and arrow here, behind a locked door, but his security would be here any moment.

"Nice to see you again, Roy. Maybe you could call ahead next time."

Not waiting for a reply, Ollie sprinted towards the door of the office moments before it burst open and tackled one of his own security men to the floor as an arrow slammed into the thick wooden surface.

Two other guards looked wild-eyed as the Mayor tackled their comrade, accidentally knocking him out cold. The black arrow that followed grabbed their attention, however, and one stretched out his hand to grab Oliver and pull him away from the room.

Oliver had other ideas, however, and grabbed the unconscious guards pistol

"There is an assassin outside trying to put an arrow in me. Put a call in to security. Get everyone away from any windows."

The one began moving immediately, but the other hesitated, beginning to raise his gun as he finally caught sight of the red archer still in the office. Oliver knocked his gun back down.

"He's with me. Now go!"

Without a backward look, the guard stumbled off, and Oliver checked the pistol he held. He felt naked without his bow, and preferred it. But he wasn't really left with another option. He glanced back to Roy in the office.

"Can you see him anywhere?"

Roy quickly turned back to the destroyed window. He immediately caught sight of the assassin, sailing towards them on a zipline.

"Oh, I see him, alright!" Roy grinned nervously. Speedily, Roy began to nock and fire a flurry of arrows to try to intercept the incoming assailant, but failed as Komodo made his entrance, flinging himself off of the zipline, through the window and colliding with Roy, his feet striking against the red archer's chest.

Komodo hit Arsenal with a wet smack. The two plummeted to the wooden flooring of the mayor's office, Roy's recurve bow thrown out of his reach and with Lacroix squatting on his chest, machete in hand. Komodo sharply brought the blade up into the air, ready to bring it crashing down the his rival, the archer Arsenal.

Oliver moved without thinking, bringing up the pistol and firing off several rounds. The bullets whistled through the air as the machete came up, blasting the machete out of Komodo's hand.

"You came to kill the Mayor, right? Well here I am!"

He followed up the bullets by crashing into Komodo, driving him off Roy and knocking him to the ground. No stranger to close quarters combat, he came up in a roll, spinning a kick towards Komodo's head. The sound of gunfire was sure to bring security running.

This needed to be ended, and fast.

Lacroix hit the ground and skidded, his machete launched for reach. In annoyance he growled, beginning to pull himself up only to be smacked back down by the mayor's kick. Damn he was fast.

"What are you?!" he seethed, before, having taken to one knee, he quickly produced a large revolver from behind his back.

"I wouldn't." Roy spat as, having retrieved his bow, he fired a precision arrow to disarm the man.
The handgun clattered to the ground as, before Lacroix could react, Roy nocked one of his own trick arrows, immediately aiming it down and firing bolas to wrap around the assassin who was attempting to stand.

Putting himself between the killer and the mayor, Roy grabbed Lacroix by the scruff of his neck and pulled him up close. "Gotcha, bitch."
With a single punch, the assassin was incapacitated.

And so, as Arsenal heard the familiar patter of security personnel rushing down the hall, about to enter, he simply looked to Oliver and shot an enthusiastic smile. "You're welcome," he beamed, "I'll stop by the cave later and explain everything."

As then as quickly and suddenly as he had entered, Roy took a running jump out of the shattering window, zipping off into the night on a zipline arrow the very moment security charged into the room to secure the mayor.

Oliver shook his head with a wry grin as Roy left as quickly as he had arrived. Some time in a city alone had definitely increased his training regimen and sped up his progress. He glanced to the door of his office as more of his security force barged in, guns raised.

"At ease, gentleman. The assassin has been neutralized."

Several of the older guards holstered their weapons, one moving to put zip ties on Komodo's limp form. Those who hadn't seen Roy here were looking at the Mayor with newfound respect. A few of the younger ones looked around, uncertain as to what to do. Oliver moved to direct them.

"Call SCPD to come and pick this guy up. They'll want a statement. Tell them one of the vigilantes working with the Green Arrow stopped the assassin before he could kill me."

He glanced down at Komodo and shook his head. Reaching up he began to unfasten the tie at his neck, loosening and tossing it to his desk.

"We also need a crew in here first thing in the morning to repair the windows and cover up the bullet holes. Keep it as quiet as you can. No need to start a media firestorm."

Small chance of that. By the time he came in tomorrow morning, the news crews would probably already be setup, ready to tell the city that someone had tried to claim his life. His secretary was already gone for the evening, so he pointed out one of the younger guards at random.

"Have my car brought around. I'm heading home for the evening."

With that he swept by the guards, not giving them time to argue. Several older ones formed up a detail to the side and behind him, accustomed to the mayor's ways. They knew better than to try and stop him, would only be wasting their time in the effort. So instead they consoled themselves with keeping a wary eye on everything as he made his way down to the street level.

Soon he was on his way to the lair, eager to see what information Roy had.
